The Guthrie Lab

About Us

The Guthrie Lab at Western University focuses on pathogen genomics, taking an interdisciplinary approach that combines bioinformatics, epidemiology, public health, genomics, and microbiology. We aim to use these tools to improve the prediction of antimicrobial resistance, understand patterns of disease transmission, detect outbreaks, and provide insights into pathogen evolution. By adopting a One Health perspective, we also consider how human, animal, and environmental reservoirs contribute to the emergence and spread of pathogens, enabling a more comprehensive understanding of infectious disease dynamics.
